She taught watercolor at the Montclair Art Museum for 20 years and at the Adult School of Montclair before that. She is an avid reader and teaches art journal workshops in Italy, France, and Croatia. In her studio, she concentrates on painting large, lush watercolor.
Sharon Pitts states, “After several years of working with acrylic on canvas, I decided to concentrate on working with watercolor and
have been doing so for over 40 years. I find the luminous glow and translucence of the medium captivating. Each painting is a process of discovering the mysterious ways of watercolor. I partner with the paint and consent to its adventurous nature when I see something surprising develop. I place a loaded brush down and watch the colors merge and flow. I direct the paint when necessary and let it go where it wants when I like what I see happening. Interacting with and watching the flow of watercolor is a magical experience and allows for incorporating the unexpected into my work.”

We would like to continue to offer these events for free to everyone. However we need to face reality. Costs for hosting these events including the hiring of demonstrators and models have increased so we will be having a donation box available to help defer some of those costs. We appreciate any support you can offer to help us to continue to provide these demonstrations.
